Who Was Alvin Jimison (1857-1931)?

There is considerable confusion as to the origins of this particular Alvin Jimison, his exact origins and his possible connection to any ancestors. There is however, no question or confusion that he existed as named, apart perhaps from actual spelling of his surname, or the correct identification of his place of birth.

The first official records we have are for y=the 1892 San Mateo County, California voter registrations, where he is listed as born in Iowa abt 1877. He is also listed in the 1910, 1920 and 1930 California (all Monterey Co.) US Censuses. In each case as having been born in Iowa, to Scottish parents. Unfortunately, we can find no census records in Iowa for ANY Alvin Jimisonm at all.
